JACKSON, Tenn. (Men's Basketball) – The Paine College men ended their three game road trip against Lane College with a bitter taste in the team's mouth. The Lions lost the game in spite of a half-court shot by
Denzel Dillingham and were defeated by the Dragons, 77-76.
With the loss, Paine drops to 2-8, overall, and 1-2 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. Lane moves to 3-5, overall, and 2-1 in conference play.
The Lions were led by
Denzel Dillingham with 23 points and
Arnis Libazs with 19 points.
Patrick Petty kept the table set for Paine with six assists. Libazs was a presence in the paint as she recorded six rebounds.
Collectively, Paine finished the game with 22 rebounds, 13 assists, nine steals, and three blocks. The team was 37.9 percent from the field, 35.7 percent from the arc, and 78.6 percent from the free throw line.
Jean-Marc Lucien was the point leader for the Dragons with 17 points. Lucien was followed by Kendarius Ash with 13 points and Josh Cooper with 12 points. The leading rebounder was Ash with 16 boards. Ash and Rodney Clarke recorded four assists each. Joseph Cooper accounted for four blocks for Lane.
As a team, the Dragons finished the night with 47 rebounds, 14 assists, eight steals, and five blocks. The team was 47.8 percent from the field, 40 percent from three point range, and 43.8 percent from the stripe.
The Lions return to action against Troy University on Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. as they travel to Dothan, Ala.
