Womens Basketball Falls To JCSU In Charlotte

Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Paine College women's basketball team fell to Johnson C. Smith University in a non-conference match-up, 100-57, Sunday afternoon in Charlotte, North Carolina.

PC falls to 0-5 on the season while the Golden Bulls improve to 6-2.

The Lady Lions fought hard in the first period and had the game tied at 11-11 before JCSU would pull away going on a 14-6 run taking a 25-17 lead at the end of the quarter. Johnson C. Smith continued to apply presure outscoring PC 26-7 in the second quarter on their way to a 51-24 lead at the half.

The Golden Bulls would not let up in the second half on their way to the 43 point victory.

PC shot 38.5 (25-of-65) percent for the game and only 16.7 (2-of-12) from long distance. JCSU out-rebounded Paine 57-33 on the boards including forcing 28 Lady Lion turnovers.

The Lady Lions were led by Keondra Archie (Eastover, S.C.) who had a team-high 12 points and eight rebounds, while freshman Nyla Murray (Lawrenceville, Ga.) had a season-high eight points and four rebounds.

JCSU had four players in double-figures led by Malia Rivers who finished with a game-high 23 points in only 18 minutes.

Paine College will face cross-town rival Augusta University in a road game on Saturday, Dec. 9th at 5:30 p.m.
