COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Paine College women's basketball team lost an 89-63 contest at Columbia International Saturday afternoon in the NCCAA South Region Championship game.
PC fell behind 33-8 after the first quarter and despite a valiant effort, the team was unable to trim the deficit.
For the game,
Jada Brooks led the team with 20 points on nine-of-18 field goals in 38 minutes of work. She also had three of the team's steals and three assists.
Kyra McCrary tallied 11 points and a game-best 18 rebounds, including six on the offensive glass.
Myah Beasley notched 12 points while Carlysh Golatt and
Ashley Rubio each hit for six points.
Adewunmi Atiba and
Jada Mullinex each contributed four points. Atiba snagged seven rebounds in the game.
The Lady Lions hit 26-of-80 from the floor (33 percent) and hit one three-point field goal attempt. The team canned 10-of-18 free throws. PC forced 14 turnovers and converted them into 16 points. The Lady Lions held a 21-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. The squad recorded seven steals in the game.
