TUSKEGEE, Ala. (Men's Basketball) –Coach
Jimmy Link and the Paine College men's basketball team fought hard in the second half to clench the team's third Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory of the season over Tuskegee University, 59-54.
The Lions climb to 7-3 overall and 3-0 in league play. The Golden Tigers drop to 3-7 overall and 0-3 in conference.
Denzel Dillingham continues to be a flash point for the Lions offense as he led the team in scoring with 14 points and nine rebounds. He was followed in points and rebounds by
Arnis Libazs with 11 points and six rebounds. Libazs dominated the paint for Paine as he posted three blocks on the night.
Alfonso Davis and
Patrick Petty each had two assists for the game. Nathan Powell proved to have the fastest hands on the team as he accounted for two steals.
As a team, Paine finished with 40 rebounds, seven assists, three blocks, and five steals. The team was 40.8 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from the free throw line.
For Tuskegee, David Alexander finished with a game-high 22 points. Kevin May was second in scoring for the Golden Tigers with 12 points and led in assists with four. May also led Tuskegee with six steals. Camden Foster finished the game with 11 rebounds. Foster and Vladmir Tilme had a block a piece.
The Golden Tigers finished the night with 29 rebounds, seven assists, two blocks and nine steals. The team was 37 percent from the field and 55.6 percent from the free throw line.
Paine will continue their road trip on Saturday as the Lions head to Memphis to face LeMoyne-Owen College at 7:30 p.m.
