Lions Drops Game in OT to Lander, 97-92

AUGUSTA, Ga. (Men's basketball) – The Paine College men's basketball team hosted Lander University in the HEAL Complex on Tuesday afternoon. The Lions played hard but came short and lost to the Bearcats in the team's third overtime game of the season, 97-92.

With the loss, Paine drops to 0-5, overall. Lander moves to 4-1.

Denzel Dillingham led the Lions with 27 points. He was followed by Arnis Libazs with 22 points, Donald Quarles with 16 points, and Rahiem Connelly with 15 points.
Quarles was also the leading rebounder with nine rebounds. The table was always set for Paine by Reginal Shuford who finished the game with eight assists.

Paine finished the game with 35 rebounds, 22 assists, five steals, and two blocks. The team was 61.4 percent from the field, 46.7 percent from three point range, and 72.7 percent from the free throw line.

The Bearcats were led by JR Washington with 29 points. He was followed by Rahu Purdie with 23 points.  Washington and Purdie finished the game with four assists each. The team's leading rebounder was Tobiasz Hose with 11 boards on the night.

Lander ended the night with 30 rebounds, 14 assists, and 15 steals. The team was 53.6 percent from the field, 62.5 percent from the arc, and 50 percent from the free throw line.

The Lions will return to action on Wednesday at 7 p.m. as they travel to Owensboro, Ky. to face Kentucky Wesleyan University.
