FINAL MEET RESULTS
Columbia, SC – Paine College made a strong showing at the 2025 NCCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, highlighted by Gabrielle Lawrence winning the women's triple jump national championship and adding a third-place finish in the long jump. In the men's events,
Eric Burden sprinted to a podium finish with third place in the 200-meter dash, as several Lions earned top-eight national finishes in their events.
Women's Highlights
National Champion Gabrielle Lawrence led the way for the Paine women. Lawrence soared to first place in the women's triple jump, recording a mark of 11.68 meters to claim the NCCAA national title. She bested a competitive field to earn the gold medal in the event. Lawrence also earned a podium spot in the women's long jump, landing a jump of 5.29 meters to secure third place overall. Her championship performance in the triple jump and bronze finish in the long jump underscore her versatility and status among the nation's top jumpers.
Also representing Paine College in women's competition,
Elysia Terry reached the finals of the 400-meter dash. Terry clocked a time of 1:00.16 to finish in eighth place in the women's 400m final. By earning a top-eight finish, Terry scored at the national meet and capped her season with All-NCCAA finals recognition.
Men's Highlights
On the men's side,
Eric Burden delivered a standout sprint performance. Burden raced to a third-place finish in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 21.26 seconds, earning a spot on the podium against a fast field of finalists. He achieved this bronze-medal position in the 200m final, trailing only the champions from Bethel (Ind.) and Jessup. Burden also competed in the 100-meter dash, where he placed fifth overall with a time of 10.70 seconds in the national final, further contributing to the team's success with a strong showing in two sprint events.
Paine College's relay teams also made their presence felt at the championship. The men's 4x100-meter relay squad raced to a 7th-place finish, recording a time of 43.36 seconds in the finals. This top-eight finish in the 4x100m added valuable points to the Lions' meet total. Additionally, Paine fielded a men's 4x400-meter relay team, which clocked 3:35.79 to finish 14th overall in that event, gaining national meet experience against strong competition.
