AUGUSTA, Ga. – Paine College's
Jalen Tyson and LaKeeba Redfield earned the Southern Intercollegiate athletic conference (SIAC) Men's and Women's Field Athletes of the Year, announced by the league on Tuesday.
Tyson, a sophomore from Kissimmee, Fla. ranks in the top 10 in the conference in several field events. He is fourth in the high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 4 inches, sixth in the long jump (21 feet, 8 inches) and seventh in the triple jump (43 feet, 8 ½ inches).
Redfield, a freshman from Statesboro, Ga. is first in the SIAC in the long jump with a provisional mark of 19 feet, 4 inches which she recorded at the Alice Coachmen Invitational. She secured another provisional mark of 38 feet, 9 inches in the triple jump which ranks second in the league.
The 2017 SIAC Track & Field Championship is set to take place May 4-6 at Hugh Mills Stadium on the campus of Albany State University in Albany, Ga. For more information,
