AUGUSTA, Ga. – Paine College will be represented at the upcoming NCCAA Track & Field National Championships by three student-athletes who qualified for it.
I'yanna Brown, Kailyn Jefferson Elysia Terry and Daniel Gibson will compete at the NCCAA National Championships.
Brown will compete in the 100m and 200m events. She crossed the line in 12.66 for the 100m while posting a mark of 27.39 in the 200m. Jefferson will take part in the 100m as well.
Terry will see action in the 200m with a mark of 27.22 and the 400m after notching a time of 1:01.78.
Gibson will vie for a national championship in the 400m and 800m events. He tallied a time of 54.03 in the 400m and registered a mark of 2:03.14 in the 800m.
Columbia International University (CIU) will be hosting the 2023 National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Wednesday, May 10 through Friday, May 12. Established in 1968 the NCCAA uses intercollegiate athletics to further the great commission and is committed to equipping coaches to make a positive impact for Christ. CIU has been a member of the NCCAA since 2012 and will host an NCCAA national championship for the first time in school history.
The meet will feature colleges and universities from around the United States, with programs traveling to the Midlands of South Carolina from the likes of Pennsylvania, Indiana, Minnesota, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, Illinois, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, and New York.
Events from both the heptathlon and decathlon will get things going on Wednesday before the meet begins in earnest on Thursday with track events such as 100m dash and 4x800m relay as well as field events such as pole vault, discus, and javelin. Friday will feature an exciting, packed schedule both in the field and on the track as the meet will conclude with the highly anticipated 4x400m relay.
Built in 2018, the CIU Track & Field Complex boasts a state-of-the-art eight-lane multi-color Mondo Track and houses a well-maintained throws area adjacent to the track with a hammer & discus cage and a shot put area. On top of its track & field-specific components, the facility features a large video board, concession stand, restrooms, and a 600-seat grandstand with a press box.
Tickets will be sold at the gate, with the following daily rates:
General Admission -$7
Children 10 & under - $5
Seniors 65 & older - $5
Military Veterans - $5.
A $15 three-day pass will also be available for purchase.
