Lions Get Ready to Host Lander, Travel to Kentucky Wesleyan

AUGUSTA, Ga. (Men's basketball) – Coach Chase Campbell and the Paine College men's basketball team gear up for another non-conference match up against Lander University in the HEAL Complex on Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Lions will also travel to Owensboro, Ky. to face Kentucky Wesleyan University on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m.

The Lions (0-4) are still in the hunt for their first win of the Campbell era and want to bounce back from the hard fought 117-108 overtime loss to rival, Augusta University on Saturday night. Lander is currently 3-1 and returning to action after a 79-72 overtime win on Saturday against Limestone. Kentucky Wesleyan (3-1) is trying to bounce back from a loss to the University of North Alabama, 94-81, on Saturday night.

Denzel Dillingham has put on scoring clinics in Paine's first four games and is currently averaging 30.5 points per game. Dillingham has scored in the double digits in each of his starts, posting his largest point total against the Jaguars with 41 points. Not far behind is Arnis Libazs averaging 15.8 ppg. The duo also lead the team in free throw percentage. Libazs's free throw percentage is 87.5 and Dillingham's is 84 percent.

Donald Quarles has been making his presence felt in the paint as the leading rebounder for Paine averaging 8.3 per game. Libazs is the team's second rebounder averaging 5.3 rpg. Newcomer Reginal Shuford has been the most generous of Lion's guards as he is averaging 2.8 assists per game. Dillingham is second in assists with 2.5 per game. Center Arnold Okechukwu has recorded at least one block in each game for Paine.

For the Lions to get a win at home against Lander, the team must shut down J.R. Washington and Tobiasz Hose. Washington leads the Bearcats in points per game, averaging 22.8. Hose is second in scoring as he is averaging 14.3 ppg. Hose also leads the team in assists with 2.7 per game.  In the paint, Quarles and Libazs must contend with Hose and Scott Elder. Hose and Elder have been Lander's force in the paint averaging 9.7 and 7.3 rebounds per game, respectively.

When Paine travels to Kentucky Wesleyan, the Lions will have to contain Ken-Jah Bosley and Devin Langford. Bosley leads the Panthers in scoring averaging 19.8 points per game while Langford is second with 17.8 ppg. Marcus Fillyaw leads the team in rebounds with 4.8 per game and assists with 3.3 per game. The presence in the paint for Kentucky Wesleyan is Jeremaine Morgan averaging 2 blocks per game.
