ALBANY, Ga. (Men's basketball) – Coach
Jimmy Link and the Paine College men's basketball continued their winning ways as they defeated Albany State Monday night on the road, 82-78.
With the win, Paine improves to 17-5, overall and 13-2 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. The Golden Rams drop to 8-14, overall and 4-11 in league play.
Leading the way for the Lions was
Denzel Dillingham with 20 points. He was followed by
Arnis Libazs with a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds. Libazs also accounted for a team-high two blocks.
Patrick Petty proved to be the most generous Lion as he led the team in assists with six.
As a team, Paine finished the game with 32 rebounds, 12 assists, four blocks, and three steals. The team was 51.1 percent from the field, 47.6 percent from the arc, and 75 percent from the free throw line.
Darshtyn Baker led Albany State with 22 points, four assists, and five steals. He was followed by Larry Bullock with 20 points. Chris Wheeler brought up the rear with a double-double of 10 points and a team-high 12 rebounds. Junaid Olusesi led the team in blocks with two.
Albany State finished the night with 35 rebounds, 11 steals, nine assists, and two blocks. The team was 37.9 percent from the field, 40.9 percent from the arc, and 76 percent from the free throw line.
The Lions will return to action on Thursday in the HEAL Complex for Scholar Athlete Night against Clark-Atlanta University at 7:30 p.m.
