AUGUSTA, Ga. (Men's Basketball) –A hard block from
Arnis Libazs with two seconds left ended Livingstone College's hopes of coming back during the Lion's overtime victory on Wednesday night. The Paine College men's basketball team clawed their way to victory on Wednesday in the HEAL Complex, 69-68.
The win takes the Lion's overall record to 3-3, while Livingstone moves to 6-2.
Denzel Dillingham showed his scoring prowess again by leading Paine with 25 points. Libazs contributed 15 points of his own, while
Jordan Banks scored 10. Libazs had an amazing presence in the middle for the Lions with six rebounds. Nathan Powell had a team high 10 assists.
Patrick Petty had the fastest hands on the court swiping three steals for the night.
As a team, the Lions finished with 31 rebounds, 16 assists, three blocks, and eight steals.
The leading scorer for Livingstone was Eric Mayo with 24 points. Ty Newman came in second for the Blue Bears in scoring with 19 points. Mayo also led the team in rebounds with 15. Dwight Williams led the team with two assists and four steals.
Livingstone finished the night with 43 rebounds, three blocks, and nine steals.
Paine returns to action on Saturday against Palm Beach Atlantic University in Palm Beach, Florida at 2 p.m.
