AUGUSTA, Ga. (Men's Basketball) – The Paine College Lions won their fourth straight game as the team defeated Spring Hill College on Saturday evening in the HEAL Complex, 76-58.
The Lions are now 5-3 overall and 1-0 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. The Badgers drop to 1-9 overall and 0-1 in conference.
Paine was led by outstanding newcomer,
Denzel Dillingham with 20 points. He was followed by
Markees Walker with 12 points and
Don Quarles with 11.
Patrick Petty proved to be the most generous passer as he led the Lions with four assists.
Arnis Libazs made his presence known in the middle with 10 total rebounds and outside the paint with a team-high four steals. Libazs and
Arnold Okechukwu each had two blocks for the day.
As a team, Paine finished the day with 35 total rebounds, 15 assists, seven blocks, and eight steals. The team was 52.6 percent from the free throw line and 57.1 percent from the field.
Wesley Pietri led Spring Hill with 16 points. He was followed by Matevz Rojc and DeVaughn Hardrick with eight points. Reginald Harbin was the leading rebounder for the six. Pietri, Hardrick, and Jarrett Calhoun each had three total rebounds. Calhoun led Spring Hill with four assists. Rojc and James Clarke each had two steals.
The Badgers finished the afternoon with 29 total rebounds, 13 assists, two blocks, and six steals. The team was 85.7 percent from the free throw line and 36.5 percent from the field.
The Lions will return to action on Monday, Jan. 5 at 7:30 p.m. as they face Miles College at home in the HEAL Complex.
