Baseball Heads Albany State for Conference Action

AUGUSTA, Ga. (Baseball) – The Paine College baseball heads to Albany State University for a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference series, starting on Saturday, April 2nd. The Lions look to extend their conference record of 7-1 and regular season record to 18-11.

Albany State's record is 7-24, overall, and 5-1 in SIAC play.

On their last outing, Paine was able to swipe a doubleheader from Clark Atlanta University on last weekend. The Lions won game one, 4-2, and took game two, 4-1. The pitching duo of Evan Krenz and Juan Berger continue to do wonders for the Lions. Krenz pitched a complete game to open the series with four hits, two runs, one walk and four strikeouts. Berger was on the mound for game two and finished with four hits, one run, five walks and seven strikeouts.

To pick up another conference series, Paine must contain Trevor Billings, Albany State's best hitter. Currently, Billings leads the Golden Rams in batting average with .333, slugging percentage with .376, and on base percentage with .436.

The Albany State pitching staff has an earned run average of 9.48. The leader of the pitching corps is Brandon Wollett with an ERA of 4.56.

Game times for the Lions on Saturday are noon and 2 p.m. and on Sunday at noon.
