AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Paine College baseball team will open play against the No. 2 seed from the western division, Kentucky State, in the 2017 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament on Thursday, May 4, at 3 p.m. at Lake Olmstead Stadium in Augusta, Ga.
The Lions enter postseason play with a 21-19 overall record and 12-8 in conference play while the Thorobreds finished the 2017 campaign 18-32 and a 12-9 SIAC record.
PC took two out of three from KYSU earlier in the year. Paine took the first game, 4-3, on a homerun by senior catcher,
Jazhiel Morel, in the bottom of the sixth for the win. The Lions won game two in a 1-0 pitchers dual between sophomore,
Zach Rader, and Kentucky State's, Chae Butler. Kentucky State avoided the sweep with an 8-2 victory in the final game of the series.
Admission is free for everyone attending the tournament.
