MIAMI, Fla. – The Paine College baseball team cruised to a 12-5 victory at Atlantis University Saturday afternoon.
The Lions are now 10-9 on the season.
Raul Guerrero led the way with a five-RBI performance coming off the bat of a pair of round-trippers.
Alejandro Fernandez rattled off three doubles while
Jhoel Melone and
Denny Daza each had one double.
Fernandez and Melone each led the squad with three hits. Daza added two RBI in the win. Cruz, Guerrero, Fernandez and
Kris Williams all crossed home plate twice.
The Lions jumped out to a 4-0 lead after plating three runs in the second and one in the third.
Leading 4-2, the teams traded runs in the fifth but PC scored two in the seventh and five in the eighth to put the game away.
The Lions posted 12 runs on 15 hits in the win. PC was guided by
Emmanuel Martinez's nine-strikeout performance in 6.1 frames.
Fabio Warff notched three strikeouts over the final 2.2 innings.
The Lions return to action Friday when they play the first contest of a three-game series at Carolina University at 2 p.m.
